The ADUM5241ARZ is a 2-channel Isolator with isoPower integrated DC-to-DC converter. Based on the iCoupler® technology, a chip scale DC-to-DC converter provides up to 50mW of regulated, isolated power at 5V, which eliminates the need for a separate isolated DC-to-DC converter in low power isolated designs. The chip scale transformer iCoupler technology is used both for the isolation of the logic signals as well as for the DC-to-DC converter. The result is a small form factor, total isolation solution. The ADUM5241 isolator provides two independent isolation channels in a variety of channel configurations, operating from a 5V input supply. ADUM5241 units can be used in combination with other iCoupler products to achieve greater channel counts. The DC-to-DC converter section of the ADUM5241 works on principles that are common to most modern power supply designs. VDD power is supplied to an oscillating circuit that switches current into a chip scale air core transformer.
